If you're going to go to the Omani Desert - this is the way to do it (and this is coming from a New York City resident). What's the point of staying in a 80 room compound with pools... experience a more true desert stay while enjoying luxury and comfort. Stayed at both (1) STARWATCHING PRIVATE CAMP and then (2) JUST FOR YOU STARWATCHING TENT. Both incredible experiences, highly recommend. Jamila was super thoughtful both ahead of the visit (I had a lot of questions) and even more so on the ground helping ensure we had great visits at both sites. STARWATCHING is fairly deep in one desert valley while JUST FOR YOU STARWATCHING is not quite as deep (but still a ways in and definitely secluded). Both offer beautiful tents, a lovely experience, and fantastic activities.

Tips for other travellers

I recommend staying at more than one camp and for two nights. We had a lovely first evening at STARWATCHING PRIVATE CAMP and then woke up to do a desert trek (interesting and a fun way to get into the desert), before driving over to JUST FOR YOU and hanging out in the shade while the midday heat passed. Then, we relaxed in our new tent before a fun sunset camel ride. Dinner was lovely - then we enjoyed the early morning hot air balloon before departing to our next destination. A perfect ~36 hours in the desert!
