We have visited before, we love it and it ticks all the right boxes. There can't be any better on the south coast. Exceptional hosts, setting and room.

Tips for other travellers

Eating out there are loads of choices, we love the La Bella Vista, Italian restaurant, St Leonards, the Mermaid fish and chip shop restaurant on the seafront of Hastings and The Fig at Rye, a cafe with a difference. A brilliant coastline with plenty of National Trust places to visit. The beach at Pett Level is a lovely walk, taking in views of coastal vistas.

Sandra and Steve were excellent hosts. The standard breakfast they prepared each day was superb. However, they were quite happy to get additional things like gluten free bread and cereal, and also tomato juice, which is often not available at many hotels.

Tips for other travellers

Sandra advised going to The Two Sawyers pub for a meal. We did this one day and liked it so much we went again another day. We visited a Chinese restaurant in Hastings called Yous Restaurant. It was pretty good and is one of a small number of Chinese restaurants that provide dining in.
