Lovely cottage, in an ideal location to explore Stromness and the rest of Orkney. Cottage, lovely and cosy, ideal size for the 3 of us.

Tips for other travellers
We ate in the Ferry Inn a few times, food and atmosphere really good. Hoy definitely worth a visit, the Scapa Flow museum is excellent, we had breakfast in the cafe as we got the early ferry from Houston and the last ferry back. Also ate in cafe Beneeth’ill, also worth a visit. Explored the rest of the island by car, ate various cafes, Polly’s tea room is brilliant as is Palace Stores.

Kitchen facilities excellent overall, but let down by poor hot water supply at mixer tap, which also had an annoying leak in the spout which I would strongly recommend being replaced ASAP. Otherwise we loved the cottage. If we were younger we'd certainly want to go back some time.

Yet again, a lovely stay at Ivydene. Very convenient for the ferry, co-op and fuel, and Stromness is only a short walk away and very pretty. 5 min drive and you are at the Stenness Stones, the ring of Brodgar and Maeshowe (book online in advance).
