We stayed in a renovated room and it was very nice and comfortable. They said that it took 15-20 minutes for the shower water to get hot, but our was hot in less than 4 minutes.

What I wrote in my travel blog about wild Ginger inn : The wild ginger hotel is very very communicative, and each message seems to emphasize that this is not a resort but a historic hotel. They spend a lot of energy on the lowering expectations game. And they’re right, this is the family owned hotel that’s past the fancy resort, all the commercial chain places, the independently owned places that no longer qualify as a hotel franchise…. It’s definitely seen better days, the room is small, outlets few, floors creak and needs new paint. That being said, it has multiple amenities I really appreciate. There are seats outside the room to enjoy the ocean view, they have free parking, breakfast is provided, they also offer guest laundry for free, including detergent and dryer sheets, using the same machines they use for the linens and towels in the morning. So all in all we appreciate the Wild Ginger inn and are glad to have found and chosen this establishment.

Wild ginger inn is an excellent location to make your base of operations in Hilo. In the 3 days 2 nights we spent at the Wild ginger inn we visited akaka falls, rainbow falls, banyan drive, richardson’s beach, coconut island, Lyman museum, pacific tsunami museum, the ocean discovery center, lavahola chocolate farm, botanical garden, zoo, Kaūmana cave state park. We ate at pineapples, alyodees Thai, Lams Garden, Corner Cafe and poke market. We would recommend each and every activity and restaurant
