Allison and Drew are the perfect host, they cheerfully greet you on arrival and every morning at breakfast. There is something for everyone at breakfast time and Allison's home made jam is lovely and if she has stock available you may be able to take some home. It is such a pleasure to stay at the Montague Villa .Allison and Drew are always on hand to give you advice on the wonderful places to see. I would recommend Montague Villa.

Gianni's fish and chip's at 14 Kemppock Street in Gourock is small and perfectly formed. Although there is no seating area there is a car park just behind where you can eat your fish and chips peacefully. The Lorne in dunoon is also a great place to eat and is nearer to the Montague. The 51 steak house was recomended by another lovely guest staying at the Montague who was a single traveller

Perfect location, with amazing view from our bedroom window. Drew and Alison were the perfect hosts, giving plenty of local information pre stay in an email. Beautiful B&B , Room was spotless and comfortable with lots of different coffee, tea choices.biscuits and sweets in room. We loved our stay here. Great breakfast too.

This was my third visit to Montague Villa (for a mix of work and leisure). You are made very welcome indeed by Drew and Alison. All the rooms and ensuites are kept to an extremely high standard. Each room comes with many extras that travellers would appreciate. There is a lounge (with Chesterfield furniture) where you can meet travelling companions or just rest a while. All rooms have views over the marina, the Holy Loch and the hills above Kilmun and Strone. Breakfast - 'simply the best'. The choices on offer are impressive; good quality ingredients are tastefully presented. A nice icebreaker is that guests are introduced at breakfast and this can spark up some good conversations. Those looking at the 'scores' will note Drew and Alison at the Villa are rated very highly - it is that good. Try it for yourselves.

Ferries - if you turn up without booking you pay the highest price. Look at Western Ferries and CalMac websites - you can buy WF tickets (not singles) at Gourock and CalMac online (obviously this depends on how you arrive - from McInroys Point or via Bute). Driving around the A83 Rest and Be Thankful is a most scenic but longer option to ferries. Eating out - the Lorne Bar seems to be the current favourite or the Osborne at Innellan. Look online and book ahead - summer gets busy. Local spots - loads to see and do. I would recommend a short stop at Lazaretto Point. It's the war memorial but a nice spot to watch the world and wildlife go by. Finally, across the loch, directly opposite Montague Villa is Kilmun Church and Mausoleum. This is run by Historic Kilmun and is well worth stopping at for a short visit to look at the final resting place of the Dukes of Argyll. For the medical fraternity one of your first forebears rests in the cemetery.

Chris it was a pleasure to have you staying with us once again and already looking forward to your chat next year, a very learned man indeed! We learn about Dunoon and surrounding areas from you 😅 Hopefully future guests will read your fantastic review and join our ever growing list of returning guests. Take care Chris, keep travelling and stay safe. Regards Alison & Drew
