Very much enjoyed our stay. No rain, no wind, mild temperatures for November even if a bit grey! Sofa facing window in particular probably needs some new cushions.

Always check opening times of local cafes and pubs off season and their serving periods. Lots of local walking options.

Lovely welcoming local pub. Good food but limited vegetarian options. Walks in every direction, stunning views. Muker village is a nice steady walk away, 3 miles each way. Lovely pub and cafe.

Food in the pub is great as is the ambience. Lots of lovely local walks. The road over the fell to Askrigg is amazing if somewhat scary. Hawes is worth a visit and the little villages past Muker are beautiful.

We really loved this cottage, once we unpacked it felt like home. There is loads of storage in the bedrooms so no rummaging in suitcases! Really spacious and well equipped kitchen too (although the frying pans left a lot to be desired).

Make sure you take slippers especially in winter - the floor downstairs is cold. The driving is pretty hairy at times so make sure you check where your satnav is taking you if you want to avoid the single track roads and massive hills (which is possible). That said - you will be rewarded with the best views and it is an adventure! Just not for the faint hearted at times! Aysgarth falls are lovely - be sure to go to all three. Richmond has confusing disc parking - we popped in a pub to ask for advice and they gave us a disc. A day in Gunnerside itself is worth it as there are nice walks from home. All in all it is a great holiday! Oh - also have change. All the public toilets need 20p!
