Very comfortable, well equipped and warm cottage in a very quiet location. Carol and Simon were really welcoming and so helpful. Would recommend the cottage to anyone wishing to stay in the area, especially those who like steam railways and walking.

Tips for other travellers

Lovely walk from the door to the Hole of Horcum and Skelton Tower (for views over the steam railway). Enjoyed our visit to the Dalby Forest too, and walks from Helmsley to Riveaux and Kilburn white horse to Sutton Bank. Whitby on the bus was good value - but unfortunately this coincided with Goth week.

A delightful cottage, beautifully furnished with immaculate decor and all that you could wish for. Lockton is a very pretty village an superbly situated for the many attractions in the area. The Lockton tearoom is just a short walk from the cottage and, once visited, you will want to go every day (closed Monday-Wednesday). Thank you Carol and Simon for your warm welcome and friendship during our stay.

Tips for other travellers

North Yorkshire Moors railway is a must and the best way to visit Whitby which is well worthwhile. The Ryedale Folk Museum and The Forge cafe next door are well worth a visit too.

The standard of the accomodation is fantastic. The cottage is well-equipped, comfortable and cosy. We wanted for nothing.

Tips for other travellers

Lockton is near the main road so we caught the bus to Whitby - much easier than driving and looking for parking. York has a very good park and ride system too. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous with lots of good walking nearby. Nearby Pickering has lots of interesting history to explore - the church and the castle.
