We received the warmest of welcomes on our arrival at The Strickland Arms- a traditional pub, with enormous wood burning stoves to give it an instantly cosy atmosphere. The menu is extensive and food of high quality. The young staff on duty that evening were very sociable and knowledgeable about the local area . Our room in the pub was warm and spotlessly keen . A hearty cooked breakfast was served the following morning before leaving to explore the area.

Tips for other travellers
There are so many places to visit in this area- Lowther Castle, Rheged Center, Larch Nurseries to name a few , as well as being so close to all the wonderful walking in the northern Lakes .
