"This is the finest B&B we’ve ever stayed at. There are so many superlatives to mention. The location is ideal—a short stroll to the main shopping and restaurant area. The home is beautiful. It was built circa 1880 as an upper-class seasonal residence. The Duncans have furnished the home tastefully. It has the feel of a comfortable yet posh Victorian retreat. The rooms are spacious. They have nice amenities like both showers and tubs, sitting areas, and inviting beds. The large windows look out onto a lovely garden with towering trees and a stream flowing across the lawn.

The best part of the Northlands is its hosts. David is a supremely talented chef whose breakfasts are unsurpassed. Pauline is a warm and vivacious host who seems to know something about every topic—local history, dining, Highland seasons—that might interest a visitor. We greatly enjoyed conversing with her during our stay. Both David and Pauline did everything they could to make our stay pleasant, even driving us to hiking trails in nearby Killiecrankie.

Staying at the Northlands is a complete experience. The Duncan’s were wonderful, and we missed them already as we boarded the train to Edinburgh. Our stay was unsurpassed by any experience we’ve enjoyed in Europe.

As you can tell, we were delighted by our five days at the Northlands."

Tip:
"There are many lovely walks and hikes near Pitlochry. They are suited for a casual stroll or more arduous hike (such as the climb to Aviemore). Local forests are populated by tall beech, birch, and pines. Obviously the local population loves walking and hiking. Everyone we encountered, without exception, was friendly and helpful.

Pitlochry has many shops. While several feature commonplace souvenirs and tourist gewgaws, others feature local artwork and crafts that appeal to discerning travelers. The Duncan’s can guide you to these worthwhile places.

If you are fortunate enough to secure a booking at the Northlands, you should place it at the top of your list."

The room was beautiful with double aspect windows with everything you needed and more.
The extras provided were a lovely and very welcome touch.

We enjoyed lovely meals at The Prince of India and The Old Mill Inn both within walking distance.
