7th January 2025:
"The site is tucked into a bend of the River Wear immediately next to the ruins of Finchale Priory. The pitches all appear to have a slope to them but this is easily corrected using chocks. We booked last minute and our enquiry was handled quickly and efficiently even though we would arrive after the park staff had finished for the day.
The site was well kept and all the facilities were clean and warm throughout our stay despite it being the winter and there not being many visitors.
When we came to leave there had been snow overnight and the park staff were excellent at clearing the road.
We certainly would recommend staying here and will be returning (although we may wait until the threat of snow has gone for this winter)."

Tip:
"The pitches appear small if you have a bigger unit but in our small Motorhome we had no problems parking.
The approach is down quite a steep bank which we hadn’t realised until we arrived and it took a couple of attempts to get back up due to overnight snow."
